Anthony Hill, LB

Arguably the most important target of the Longhorns 2023 class that was visiting over the weekend was the elite five-star Denton-Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill. There might also not be a more important defensive target of the Longhorns 2023 class than Hill.

That’s why it’s great to hear that Texas made a good impression by most accounts during his visit to Austin over the weekend. It made headlines that Hill feels like he can see himself as a good fit for the Longhorns’ defensive scheme during his weekend visit. And the connection between him and the likes of co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Jeff Choate and Pete Kwiatkowski seemed apparent.

This is the type of result that Texas needed coming out of this weekend visit with Hill. Giving him the right pitch despite some of the poor results from the defensive front last season was one of the main goals at hand with Hill. And Texas definitely got the job done in that regard.

It also sounds like Texas is in an even better spot in the race to land a commitment from Hill coming out of his first major visit of the spring.

Texas now needs to keep the focus on growing the momentum on the recruiting trail with Hill for the rest of the spring and through the summer. Choate and the Longhorns are in a real battle with the likes of the Texas A&M Aggies, Oklahoma, Alabama, etc., in the recruitment of Hill right now. And they need to capture as much momentum as they possibly can after a successful weekend visit with Hill.
