4 Texas players that shined in this weekend’s spring scrimmage
Xavier Worthy, WR
Turning the attention to the offensive side of the ball for this weekend’s spring scrimmage, one star to note was the stud rising sophomore wide receiver Xavier Worthy. The former breakout true freshman continued to impress in this scrimmage as he has throughout much of spring ball thus far.
From what we’ve heard coming out of this weekend’s scrimmage, some of the biggest names to note on the offense were from the receiving corps. Apparently the trio of rising redshirt junior wide receiver Jordan Whittington, senior Marcus Washington, and Worthy were some of the highlighting skill position players in this scrimmage.
But Worthy sounds like one of the biggest stars from either team and either side of the ball in this game.
We’ll get to it more on the next part of this list, but one of the highlighting plays coming out of this scrimmage was a long pass to him that looked to go for at least 50 yards. Worthy burned his opposing defensive back to get a step when he was hit with a beautiful pass for a touchdown.
That was one of multiple catches on the day for Worthy. He was a true standout in this one along with the likes of Whittington, senior tight end Jahleel Billingsley, and sophomore Ja’Tavion Sanders, all of which had touchdown catches on the day.
It’s good to see Worthy stepping up this spring as he looks to prove he is the Big 12’s best and most explosive wide receiver this fall. He’s certainly on the right track to being able to prove that point this coming season.
