Heading into spring camp, it looked like second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff weren’t done making moves in the NCAA Transfer Portal to continue to build up the roster for Texas football this offseason. And that certainly looks to be the case as Texas has remained pretty active targeting key players that have surfaced in the transfer portal in the last few weeks.
That’s not to mention the fact that Sark and the Longhorns staff are apparently still keeping in communication with some of their more noted transfer portal targets that go back a bit farther. That includes the likes of former TCU Horned Frogs two-time All-Big 12 senior defensive end/edge rusher Ochaun Mathis and former Louisiana Ragin’ Cajuns senior linebacker Lorenzo McCaskill.

Granted, Mathis is clearly the top established transfer portal target at this point of the offseason for the Longhorns. And it now looks like he’s set to announce his decision by the end of this month following visits with the likes of the Nebraska Cornhuskers and the Longhorns (planned for April 23) for their respective spring football games.
Moreover, there are some new emerging targets in the transfer portal for the Longhorns faithful to note in the midst of spring camp. With the latest wave of transfer portal entrants coming about in the last few weeks, there are some new players that we need to take a deeper dive into as it relates to the Longhorns.
