Texas football can add another cornerback to the list among those that are currently not practicing with the team this week. According to a report from Horns247 on April 12 (paid content), the former four-star 2022 cornerback commit and Memorial product Jaylon Guilbeau is suspended from the team. Guilbeau reportedly isn’t practicing with the team but is still enrolled at the University of Texas this spring.

Anwar Richardson of Orangebloods confirmed the news that Guilbeau is suspended from the team via a post on his Twitter timeline on the morning of April 12. Richardson tweeted that second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian said that Guilbeau is “suspended from the team but is still enrolled”.

Guilbeau is the second cornerback to be suspended from the team this spring due to a violation of team rules. The other is the fellow former four-star cornerback recruit and freshman Ishmael Ibraheem. Originally suspended last year, Ibraheem has yet to make his way back to the team.

Moreover, the Horns247 report does confirm that Ibraheem and Guilbeau are still members of the team but they are currently suspended due to the aforementioned violations of team rules. This report also mentions that as of last week, school officials were still gathering information regarding Guilbeau’s violation of team rules.

This is unfortunate for Guilbeau and the Longhorns as the true freshman early enrollee looked to be off to a great start through the first few spring practices. He was pegged as a true freshman that could make an early impact with this secondary thanks to the raw talent he brings to the table and some of the early flashes he showed early on in spring camp.

We will continue to monitor this storyline as it develops concerning Guilbeau and Ibraheem.
