While most of the attention among the top targets at the wide receiver position in the Longhorns 2023 class tends to fall to the likes of Cook, four-star Jaquiaze Pettaway, four-star Jaden Greathouse, etc., there is still one very important target to watch in this spot this weekend. The touted four-star Longview wide receiver Jalen Hale is one of the highest-rated recruits that has a Texas offer for the 2023 class at the position.

Hale is also the highest-rated 2023 skill-position target visiting Texas this weekend.

It sounds like this is shaping up to be a real battle on the recruiting trail between the likes of Texas and Alabama this spring. But you also can’t count out other top schools on the recruiting trail in the race to land a commitment from Hale such as Oklahoma and Texas A&M.

Yet, Alabama recently had a very successful visit with Hale this spring that apparently left him with a tremendous feeling about Tuscaloosa. Texas will need to make similar moves in terms of the pitch they make and the connection they have with Hale and his camp coming out of this weekend.

Hale is set to have a multi-day visit with Texas this weekend, starting on April 15. This could wind up being one of the most important markers in the recruiting timeline of Hale as it wouldn’t surprise me if he arrives at a final decision by the middle of the summer.

All in all, if Texas could secure a commitment from Hale in the 2023 class he could very well wind up being the most pivotal wide receiver for this cycle. Adding Hale could also help Texas improve their chances with the likes of Arch and Owens to really build out an elite group at the skill positions in the 2023 class.
