In the second major scrimmage of spring camp for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program this weekend, there was plenty to discuss. Texas apparently saw a lot of positive strides in multiple regards on each side of the ball in this weekend’s scrimmage that should be discussed further.

Texas sounds like facets that needed to be improved ahead of the Orange-White spring football game next weekend saw necessary strides on April 16. Sark and the Longhorns staff got to see another solid scrimmage for the passing game this weekend, along with improvements from the offensive line, and flashes shown by the defensive backs in critical areas of the field.

Moreover, there are still areas where the Longhorns need to progress before the conclusion of spring camp. Texas still has a lot of room to improve along the offensive line, at edge rusher, and with the consistency of their linebacker play outside of one key senior leader.

Who impressed for Texas football in this weekend’s scrimmage?

All in all, Texas fans should be happy with a lot of the progress that Texas made on each side of the ball over the course of the last two weekend scrimmages. Texas worked a lot of the younger players and new additions via the NCAA Transfer Portal into the program. In the midst of transitioning new additions to the program this spring, it was clear that the coaching staff was able to identify other areas of need to address in the portal throughout the remainder of the offseason.
