Decision timeline still unknown for Texas transfer target Agiye Hall
There were a couple of notable visitors on campus this weekend for the Texas football program and second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian among the key targets for this staff out of the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas hosted the likes of the former two-time All-Big 12 TCU Horned Frogs senior edge rusher/defensive end Ochaun Mathis and former Alabama Crimson Tide talented freshman wide receiver Agiye Hall for visits in the midst of another spring scrimmage this weekend.
Yet, the narrative surrounding the recruitment of Mathis and Hall out of the transfer portal coming out of the weekend seems to be at very different points. Texas is set to hear the announcement of Mathis in the next couple of months while it might be a lot longer before we know the intentions of Hall out of the portal.
A report from Inside Texas this weekend (paid content) indicates that there is really nothing but speculation at the moment concerning the formulation of a decision timeline for Hall this spring. This report mentions that there’s even a chance that Hall could wait until the end of the semester at the University of Alabama until he officially announces his commitment this offseason.
Texas football transfer WR target Agiye Hall still looks to have an unknown decision timeline
However, Texas is the only school that received a visit from Hall since he entered the portal earlier in the week. There don’t appear to be any other schools in line to get a visit on the books with Hall at this point of the offseason.
What has become clear, though, is the fact that Texas is making Hall a top priority among wideouts out of the portal this spring. Texas was still at least scouting out wide receivers in the portal this spring even after landing a commitment from another transfer at the position in the former Wyoming Cowboys breakout redshirt freshman Isaiah Neyor.
But Texas could be taking more of a long-term approach with Hall in terms of his fit within this program. While Neyor could be headed off to the NFL as soon as next year, Hall will at least need another couple of seasons before he’s able to take that step.
Coming out of this weekend, it looks like two of the decisions to watch in the near future for Sark and the Longhorns staff are Mathis and Hall. At the moment, Texas looks to be sitting in a good position with both of them.
