Texas QB Quinn Ewers is the ‘buzz’ of spring camp
The excitement is building for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program with the Orange-White spring football game quickly approaching next weekend. Texas just wrapped up the final weekend scrimmage of spring camp before the spring game arrives on April 23.
A big reason why there is so much hype for Sark and the Longhorns this spring is the apparent progression of the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman transfer quarterback and elite five-star recruit Quinn Ewers. For the second straight weekend, there is plenty of buzz coming out of spring camp for the sole reason of the way Ewers is impressing the coaching staff and the media.
Ewers shined during the first major scrimmage of spring camp last weekend. And then, it seems like he was able to do the same this weekend in the second major scrimmage of spring ball.
Ewers tossed multiple touchdown passes in a full-pads scrimmage in camp this weekend. And while he did toss one interception that apparently went for a pick-six thanks to a jumped-route by returning super senior corner D’Shawn Jamison, it sounds like Ewers came up with mostly positive results on the day on April 16.
A ton of “buzz” is generating around new Texas football QB Quinn Ewers this spring following this weekend’s scrimmage
There was also another touchdown pass that went from Ewers to the to-be sophomore star wide receiver Xavier Worthy for the second straight weekend scrimmage. Ewers’ pass to Worthy for a touchdown of 50+ yards last weekend really made the rounds around social media.
Orangebloods noted (paid content) coming out of this weekend’s scrimmage that Ewers was largely the “buzz” of the festivities on April 16.
It would be nice to see if this is one of the highlights that emerges on the Longhorns’ social media coming out of the scrimmage this weekend.
Some of the raw arm talent that we know Ewers possesses is really getting put on display on a consistent basis this spring. That combined with the fact that he seems to be settling in nicely, as evident in the last two weekend scrimmages, makes for some real hype building up in Austin this spring.
Ewers is the talk of the town less than one week away from the spring football game. And there is a ton of anticipation building for what he could put on display during the spring game next weekend.
Texas officially began spring practice back on March 22. There are now only a handful of practices remaining for Ewers and the Longhorns until they return to action at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium for the spring game on April 23.
