Clay Webb, OG

Two of the most potent and talented offensive linemen that surfaced in the transfer portal throughout the spring both came from the defending National Champion Georgia Bulldogs and head coach Kirby Smart. As part of the recent wave of transfer portal entrants from Georgia this spring, two that emerged among former blue-chip offensive linemen were junior Clay Webb and redshirt freshman Amarius Mims.

Since Mims has already decided to return to Athens and continue his career with the Dawgs, Webb is the only one of this duo remaining in the transfer portal now.

And while that is a shame for the Longhorns considering the fact that it appeared Sark and offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood were targeting Mims, Webb could still be a player worth seeking out for this staff. It’s clear that depth issues are likely to persist for Texas along the offensive line this fall, despite the insanely talented incoming freshman class.

Webb only took roughly two-dozen snaps along the Georgia offensive line during the few years he spent in Athens. But he is a former top-10 rated recruit in the entire country for the 2019 cycle. He also played behind a plethora of NFL-caliber offensive linemen in Athens for the last few years.

If Texas is still seeking out help in the transfer portal this spring along the offensive line, then Webb could be a name to watch moving forward. But this is also a point I’m making that Flood and the Longhorns should continue to be on the lookout for quality offensive linemen that appear in the portal from here on out.
