As they look to move their winning streak to two games early this week, head coach David Pierce and No. 10 ranked Texas baseball are getting set to host the Air Force Falcons out of the Mountain West Conference. Texas is looking to get back on track, though, after one of their worst showings of the regular season to date during the holiday weekend.

Pierce and the Longhorns are coming off a series loss at the hands of the Kansas State Wildcats from last weekend. Texas fell short in two of the three games in their last series against Kansas State. But Texas did get the best of Kansas State to avoid their first sweep in Big 12 play this season, in a 4-2 win over the Wildcats on April 16.

That gives Texas a record of 26-12 (6-6 Big 12) heading into this series opener against Air Force.

Meanwhile, Air Force is coming off three straight losses in a series defeat last weekend at the hands of the Nevada Wolfpack. Their last game was a 4-1 loss to Nevada on April 17. That gives the Falcons a record of 15-19 (5-10 MWC) heading into this series opener against the Longhorns.

Air Force is also 1-3 against Big 12 opponents so far this season. They lost two games against the Oklahoma Sooners and had one win over Kansas State.

Here’s a look at the betting odds, TV/streaming info, and game prediction as Texas gets set to host Air Force for a two-game midweek series at home at UFCU Disch-Falk Field starting on April 19, with the first pitch time set for 6:30 p.m. CT.

Texas baseball vs. Air Force pick

This will be the fifth start of the season for the 6-foot-2 and 205-pound redshirt sophomore right-hander Justin Eckhardt. The last start for Eckhardt resulted in a win over UTRGV back on April 5, which is the only win of the season so far for the right-hander. But that win over UTRGV was anything but impressive for Eckhardt.

In that start, Eckhardt allowed five earned runs and nine hits in less than five innings of work on the mound. He’s also allowed a whopping seven earned runs in 7.2 innings on the mound in his last two starts, which came against UTRGV and the Texas A&M Aggies.

In the series opener on April 19, Texas will be facing right-hander Dylan Rogers from Air Force. That should be a very winnable matchup for the Longhorns as Rogers come in without any decisions on the season so far and an earned run average of 5.57.

Moreover, this series feels like one that Pierce and the Longhorns need to take. Texas is not doing well in Big 12 play thus far. And the series loss to Kansas State last week was really a low point for Texas so far this season.

Texas has two winnable games this week against the Falcons to get back on track before a critical weekend series against the Baylor Bears in a few days. The first pitch for the series opener at the Disch on April 19 is at 6:30 p.m. CT, and 4 p.m. CT on April 20.

Final score prediction: Texas-10, Air Force-2
