3 Texas players that could transfer post-spring camp
Brayden Liebrock, TE
Another Longhorns player who once held a more promising place on the depth chart a couple of years ago that could be a threat to enter the transfer portal before too long is the former blue-chip recruit and rising redshirt junior tight end Brayden Liebrock. In fact, the number of snaps Liebrock took with the Texas offense in the last couple of seasons is on a downhill trend.
Mostly due to injury issues, Liebrock didn’t take a single offensive game in any regular season/postseason game during the 2021 campaign. If Liebrock was healthy throughout last season, he might’ve at least got a couple dozen snaps on offense.
But the fact of the matter is that Liebrock never even reached three-dozen offensive snaps in any single season in his three years playing for Texas to date. A lot of that is due to the constant injury bug he’s dealt with during his collegiate career. Yet, it also feels like the clock is ticking for Liebrocks’ time in this tight end room too.
At this point, you’d have to consider there to be at least four scholarship tight ends ahead of Liebrock on the depth chart. Second-year tight ends such as Gunnar Helm and Juan Davis both look to be getting reps ahead of Liebrock since last offseason. And it’s clear that the former five-star recruit Ja’Tavion Sanders and Alabama transfer Jahleel Billingsley are both ahead of Liebrock on the tight end depth chart.
Liebrock was a very highly touted recruit coming out of high school. And he might want to soon find another program where he can get a much-needed change of scenery and be able to contribute immediately on the field.
