USC Trojans

Another potential landing spot for Askew in his home state of California that could be interesting for him out of the portal this offseason lies with head coach Andy Enfield and the USC Trojans in the PAC-12 South. USC found a lot of success last season, finishing in the top 25 in the AP Poll and making it into the NCAA Tournament as a seven-seed before falling short to the 10-seed Miami Hurricanes.

USC is on a good two-year run under Enfield where they’ve had at least a mid-single-digit seed in the NCAA Tournament in each of the last couple of seasons. They’ve also finished in the top 25 in the AP Poll in each of the last two seasons.

This goes to show that USC could offer Askew an appealing destination out of the portal this offseason where he could find success right away.

Enfield and the Trojans could find a lot of value in pursuing a defensive standout guard such as Askew in the portal this spring. USC will need to

USC is a program that has already lost some valuable depth to the transfer portal this offseason. Enfield and the Trojans will need to find a way to restore this depth at the top of the rotation if they want to contend in the PAC-12 again next season.

The losses to the transfer portal for the Trojans include three players that were regulars in the rotation last season big man Boubacar Coulibaly, point guard Ethan Anderson, and small forward Max Agbonkpolo.

Thus, from the perspective of getting a shot at an immediate impact role in this backcourt unit, USC checks the box as a landing spot for Askew out of the portal.

Last but not least, USC is another school that offered Askew out of high school. It was Enfield and the current USC staff that recruited him out of Mater Dei High School in Santa Ana, CA, which is very close geographically to the Trojans.

The previous connections could still hold up if USC wanted to recruit Askew out of the portal this offseason.
