With a little more than 48 hours until the start of the annual Orange-White spring game for the Texas football program, injury news is starting to come out late this week. Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian updated the media with some injury news that is definitely worth noting as of the morning of April 21.

Sark and the Longhorns will reportedly be missing one key offensive lineman in the spring football game this weekend and will have possibly their biggest star limited.

The player that is out for the Longhorns in the spring game due to an injury is the rising redshirt sophomore offensive tackle Andrej Karic. This third-year offensive lineman was likely going to be one of the top offensive tackles available for Texas in the spring game.

Karic will also wind up missing the final half of the spring practices due to the sprained ankle he suffered a couple of weeks ago.

Moreover, the other bit of injury news looks to be that Sark and the Longhorns staff will be limiting the rising junior star running back Bijan Robinson in the spring game since he is also nursing an ankle injury. Bijan was limited a couple of times throughout spring practice, but this looks to mostly be a precautionary measure.

There’s no reason for Texas fans to panic regarding the injury news to Bijan.

Texas getting more reps to other running backs such as rising senior Roschon Johnson, junior Keilan Robinson, sophomore Jonathon Brooks, and true freshman Jaydon Blue, will be more important in the spring game than risking further injury to Bijan.

It actually might wind up being more impactful that Karic is out for the spring game, leaving the offensive line even more shorthanded than before. Offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood is likely going to be left well shy of double-digits in terms of the number of scholarship offensive linemen available for the spring game this weekend.

Texas is going to be missing both Karic and fellow sophomore offensive lineman Isaiah Hookfin, who suffered a tragic motorcycle accident that happened back in December 2021.

Sark and the Longhorns began spring practice officially back on March 22. There is now one practice remaining until the spring football game, which is set to take place at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium on April 23.
