On the night of April 23, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program will take part in the altered format of the spring football game at Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium. This will be the first time that Texas takes to the field at DKR in front of the fans to play in some type of game action since last fall in the regular season finale win over the Kansas State Wildcats.

And the excitement is surely there among the Longhorns faithful as the fans are about to see a number of the new additions to the program that could help improve this team in 2022. While Texas fans wanted to see the traditional spring game format from Sark and the Longhorns this weekend, it is still worth watching to see what the team has to offer to cap spring ball.

While Texas will be taking part in a non-standard format spring football game this weekend, there are still some aspects to this that will be key to watch. Texas is still going to take part in some red zone scrimmages to cap the festivities on this night. And we’ll still get to see some of the progress made by key players on each side of the ball. Granted, it will be coming in a limited sample size.

Sark and the Longhorns welcome more than a dozen new additions to the program this spring, which the fans will get to see in some sort of game action for the first time on April 23. Which of those new additions are worth watching in this altered spring game this weekend?
