3 new additions ready to breakout in Texas spring game
Quinn Ewers, QB
There is no single Longhorns player that the fans are more excited to see take to the field at DKR this weekend for the altered spring game than the former Ohio State Buckeyes freshman transfer quarterback Quinn Ewers. This generational talent and former elite five-star Southlake Carroll signal-caller is about to make his spring game debut for Sark and the Longhorns.
And it sounds like Ewers could be primed to put on a show with his insane arm talent in the spring game on this night. Ewers has consistently progressed in key areas this spring. But these situational reps will be really important to see the sides that Ewers apparently made in spring camp thus far on display in front of the Longhorns faithful on April 23.
It will also be important for Ewers to show out as he continues to try and prove he deserves to win the starting quarterback job this year over rising junior Hudson Card. The quarterback competition between Ewers and Card has dominated the storyline for Texas in spring ball thus far. And that battle between Ewers and Card will continue to command the spotlight in the spring game.
Most of all, the Longhorns faithful are looking to see Ewers stand out and start to take command of the starting job before summer workouts and fall camp arrive. It seems like the quarterback competition started trending in favor of Ewers a couple of weeks ago. If he can cap off spring ball on a high note this weekend, watch out for the hype to really start building around Ewers heading into the summer.
