An enormous weekend on the recruiting trail and on the field for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff was marked by landing two key commitments in the 2023 Texas football recruiting class. On the night of April 23, Texas reeled in two big-time blue-chip skill position commits to nearly double the number of recruits in the 2023 class.

And that all came in the midst of the altered version of the annual Orange-White spring football game for Sark and the Longhorns staff. Texas was definitely able to make some necessary strides on the recruiting trail with the 2023 class and on the field with the results coming out of this weekend to conclude spring camp.

The two commitments that the Longhorns reeled in this weekend for their 2023 class came from the highly touted four-star Aldine Eisenhower (TX) wide receiver Ryan Niblett and the powerful four-star DeSoto running back Tre Wisner. Texas also landed this pair of commitments in the span of just a few minutes when they announced on social media on April 23.

Who’s next for Texas football after landing a big pair of 2023 commits this weekend?

Sark and the Longhorns are now up to five commits in the 2023 class after landing Niblett and Wisner on April 23. After landing these five commits, On3 now lists the Longhorns 2023 class at No. 8 in the country and in the top spot in the Big 12 over the Texas Tech Red Raiders.
