Jordan Matthews, CB

One of the more recent targets of the Longhorns 2023 class that this coaching staff has found a lot of traction with since the turn of the calendar year is the touted four-star Woodlawn (LA) cornerback Jordan Matthews. Texas has taken advantage of the change in coaching staff for the LSU Tigers since last fall and now looks to be the frontrunner in Matthews’ recruitment at the conclusion of spring ball.

Matthews is another key target of the Longhorns 2023 class that has made his way to Austin for multiple visits since the turn of the calendar year. Cornerbacks coach Terry Joseph has done a great job as the primary recruiter for Matthews. And it might only be a matter of time before Texas is officially able to haul in a commitment from this talented Louisiana native.

Ashton Porter, DL

The talented four-star Cy Ranch defensive lineman Ashton Porter is a common name that appears on these prediction lists when I try and project who the next commit could be for the Longhorns 2023 class. That is due to the fact that Texas and defensive line coach Bo Davis has long made Porter one of their top priorities among defensive linemen for this recruiting cycle.

Next. Important recruits visiting for the spring game. dark

Texas can’t get too complacent, though, in the recruitment of Porter this spring. He didn’t make his way to Austin for an unofficial visit during spring ball for Sark and the Longhorns. The sentiment does still seem to be that Texas is setting the pace in the recruitment of Porter, but you can’t count other the other two schools in his current top three, which are the Arkansas Razorbacks and Baylor Bears.

It is also important to watch out for the Miami Hurricanes, who hosted Porter for a visit last weekend. Miami could be a late riser among Porter’s top schools at the conclusion of spring ball.
