Another good example of a former under-the-radar three-star recruit at the wide receiver position for the Longhorns that originally arrived on the Forty Acres with some real potential, but hasn’t come close to realizing it yet, is the Hutto, TX, product Dajon Harrison. This rising redshirt sophomore wideout was a signee of the Longhorns 2020 class and has yet to make much of any noise in the last couple of years.

In fact, in two seasons playing for Texas, Harrison has yet to take a single offensive or special teams snap (on the punt return/coverage squads at least).

This spring looked to be the time for Harrison to finally breakout given the lack of scholarship wide receiver depth available for Sark and Marion for most of camp. And Harrison did get more second-team reps in the process. But spring ball didn’t end with his name coming up in all that many conversations after getting an elevated number of relevant reps in spring practice.

Moreover, it probably won’t help Harrison’s cause that he just wasn’t able to find a connection with either Ewers or Card. In fact, he wasn’t able to catch up to a nice deep ball down the middle of the field that Ewers tossed his way. And he had a tough drop later in the spring game after getting hit in the open field on a short route.

Last but not least, another reason that could contribute to a transfer decision from Harrison is the fact that he’s at least three or four wideouts deep on the depth chart coming out of the slot. I would anticipate that redshirt junior Jordan Whittington, incoming freshman Brenen Thompson, and rising redshirt sophomore Kelvontay Dixon all sit above Harrison on the slot wideout depth chart at the conclusion of spring ball.
