There is yet another Big 12 football quarterback that started for his team for much of last season that has appeared in the NCAA Transfer Portal this offseason. Former Baylor Bears redshirt junior starting quarterback and blue-chip recruit Gerry Bohanon put his name in the transfer portal on April 27.

This does come as a bit of a surprise considering the fact that Bohanon was the presumed favorite to win the starting quarterback job with Baylor this fall. If nothing else, it looked like Bohanon would be competing with redshirt sophomore Blake Shapen to win the starting quarterback job for this coming season.

With Bohanon now entering the transfer portal this week, there’s another Big 12 program that is down their starting quarterback from the start of last season. This now makes it eight Big 12 schools that are going to have a new starting quarterback next season. Of those eight, roughly a half-dozen either have a new presumed starter out of the transfer portal or lost their starter from last season to the portal.

Where could Big 12 football transfer QB Gerry Bohahnon land out of the portal this offseason?

In fact, the only two Big 12 schools that are likely to have the same starting quarterback as last season heading into the 2022 campaign are the TCU Horned Frogs (Max Duggan) and Oklahoma State Cowboys (Spencer Sanders).

Moreover, Baylor could now be rolling for Shapen as their starter for next season or try to find someone else out of the portal this offseason to take Bohanon’s spot in the quarterback room.

If Baylor does add a quarterback transfer at some point this offseason, that would put them in the group of Big 12 programs such as the Texas Longhorns, Oklahoma Sooners, West Virginia Mountaineers, etc. that have already done so.

Yet, Baylor losing Bohanon is a hit to the depth in their quarterback room. This news might be coming due to Shapen getting the edge to win the starting job, though.

With that in mind, here’s a look at three potential transfer landing spots for the former Baylor quarterback Bohanon.
