The 2022 NFL Draft class coming out of the Texas football program is likely going to be one of the weakest in recent memory. Texas is almost guaranteed to not have a player selected at least until day three of this NFL Draft. And there’s a good chance that Texas could not have a single player drafted entirely in this draft class.

Yet, that is likely to change soon with head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Longhorns looking to have a very prominent draft class coming out of the program next year. Depending on which players declare early for the NFL Draft next year, Texas could have a really solid group with potentially even multiple first-round picks.

The 2023 draft class for the Longhorns could include prominent names such as star junior running back Bijan Robinson, senior running back Roschon Johnson, redshirt junior wide receiver Jordan Whittington, and senior linebacker Demarvion Overshown, among a few others.

But two of the names that really stick out from this potential 2023 draft class from Texas are Robinson and Whittington.

And there is a recent mock-up for the 2023 NFL Draft that agrees with that sentiment. The latest 2023 NFL Mock Draft from Walter Football actually had Bijan getting selected in the top 10. This 2023 mock draft from Walter Football had Bijan falling at No. 8 to the New York Jets.

Star Texas football RB Bijan Robinson slotted as a top 10 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft

And Walter Football had this to say about their reasoning for this pick.

"Michael Carter is a solid running back, but the Jets may be interested in the next superstar at the position to really aid Zach Wilson’s development.Bijan Robinson is going to be another running back chosen early in the draft. All of his attributes are at sky-high levels."

Walter Football is clearly high on what Bijan brings to the table as an NFL Draft prospect. There’s a good chance that he will be the first running back off the board in next year’s draft. And if he can stay healthy throughout the 2022 campaign, he should only continue to solidify his draft stock.

Bijan could also be one of a few different Longhorns players vying to prove their worthy of first-round draft status in the 2023 class. Overshown and Whittington definitely have a ceiling of a first-round pick. The same could be said for new transfer additions to the program such as rising redshirt sophomore wide receiver Isaiah Neyor and senior tight end Jahleel Billingsley.

And if Texas can land a commitment out of the NCAA Transfer Portal from the former TCU Horned Frogs two-time All-Big 12 senior edge rusher/defensive end Ochaun Mathis, that could give this team another potential 2023 first-round pick.

At the moment, though, it looks like Bijan is the sure-first projected first-round draft pick in the 2023 class for Texas. He is the most talented and proven player that is almost assured to enter the draft next year and already has the makings of someone who could be the best running back in college football in 2022.
