Garrett Wilson, WR

The lone Austin native on this list that the Longhorns missed out on a few cycles ago that could be a first-round NFL Draft pick this week is the former Ohio State Buckeyes star junior wide receiver Garrett Wilson. This Lake Travis High School product was an elite five-star recruit during the 2019 cycle that didn’t find a whole lot of traction with Herman and the Longhorns staff throughout the recruiting process.

Wilson was pretty vocal throughout the last few years about the fact that he passed on the Longhorns due to the decline in the program’s success on the field in the last decade or so.

After passing on Texas, Wilson went on to have a stellar career with the Buckeyes where he registered more than 2,300 total yards and two-dozen touchdowns over the course of three seasons. He is expected to be a mid-first-round pick in this draft.

Kenyon Green, OT

As a top offensive line target for the Longhorns and former offensive line coach Herb Hand during the 2019 recruiting cycle, the former Atascocita five-star offensive tackle Kenyon Green was extremely coveted. But Green wound up passing on the Longhorns to commit to the in-state rival Texas A&M in their 2019 class.

Green had a successful career with head coach Jimbo Fisher and the Aggies as a three-year starter, where he played at multiple spots along the offensive line. He is now expected to be go as a late first-round or early second-round pick in this draft.
