For multiple reasons, this week was an eventful one for the Texas football program and second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian in the NCAA Transfer Portal. Texas lost quite a few players to the transfer portal this week, including three coming in roughly the last 24 hours.

Sark and the Longhorns staff also saw the waters muddied a little bit in terms of their apparent chances to land a commitment out of the transfer portal this weekend from the former TCU Horned Frogs two-time All-Big 12 senior edge rusher/defensive end Ochaun Mathis.

There seems to be some growing confidence with the Nebraska Cornhuskers’ side that Mathis could give his pledge to them this weekend. And it looks like the confidence is continuing to steadily rise for Nebraska ahead of his April 30 decision.

Even TCU and new head coach Sonny Dykes are seemingly getting back into the mix with Mathis.

Moreover, the first two Longhorns players that entered the transfer portal this week were third-year linebacker/running back Jaden Hullaby and redshirt junior defensive lineman Myron Warren. Texas did lose some depth in at least one position of need to the portal with the departures of Warren and Hullaby.

But that paled in comparison to what Sark and the Longhorns staff lost to the portal entering the weekend. Texas lost a notable trio of players to the portal on April 29 which will hurt the depth of various position groups on each side of the ball ahead of the May 1 deadline.

With that in mind, here’s a deeper look at the three Longhorns players that entered the portal entering the weekend that are notable losses for this team.
