Another ultra-underrated recent transfer portal entrant that could make an immediate impact for the Longhorns frontcourt unit is the former senior St. Bonaventure Bonnies power forward/center Osun Osunniyi. This three-time All-Atlantic 10, four-time All-A-10 Defensive Team selection, and two-time A-10 Defensive Player of the Year, would be about as much of a frontcourt upgrade defensively as Texas could get out of the transfer portal this offseason.

Osunniyi is a real force to be reckoned with down low. He ranks among the top rim protectors, rebounders, and on-ball paint defenders in the country in the last few seasons.

Just to highlight how insane Osunniyi’s defensive numbers are during his four years in college to date, he’s never averaged fewer than 2.4 blocks per game in four seasons. He’s also averaged at least 0.5 steals per game and 7.5 rebounds in each of the four seasons in his collegiate career to date.

Moreover, adding Osunniyi would bring a much different dynamic to the Texas frontcourt compared to someone like Aimaq. Osunniyi is not going to space the floor for the Longhorns. He will live in the paint and take most of his shots within three or five feet from the rim.

But Osunniyi will definitely be someone that will help Texas win the battle on the boards, get some extra offensive rebounds, keep opponents out of the paint, and even shoot the ball from the charity stripe at a decent clip all things considered. Osunniyi is around a 65 percent shooter from the charity stripe, which isn’t too bad for a big man that lives around the rim.

He gets to the free-throw line pretty often too, with a career free-throw attempt rate sitting around .355.
