4-Star Texas football WR target Jaden Greathouse trending Notre Dame
Among the top-rated local targets of the 2023 Texas football recruiting class is the four-star Westlake wide receiver Jaden Greathouse. Texas started to make Greathouse a real priority during the spring as he made his way to campus for multiple unofficial visits during camp in the last couple of months.
In fact, Greathouse visited Austin three times since the turn of the calendar year.
Given that, it looked like second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Longhorns were sitting in a great spot for Greathouse coming out of spring camp. That notion seemed to be reaffirmed after Greathouse dropped his top four finalist schools on social media earlier this week.
Yet, it is another one of Greathouse’s finalist schools that seem to have the momentum in his recruitment right now. There are multiple indicators now leading to the idea that new head coach Marcus Freeman and the Notre Dame Fighting Irish are setting the pace in Greathouse’s recruitment.
Texas football 4-Star WR target Jaden Greathouse now trending to Notre Dame
Multiple recruiting analyst forecasts are now favoring the Fighting Irish to win the race to land a commitment from Greathouse over other top schools such as the Oklahoma Sooners, South Carolina Gamecocks, and Texas.
The three most recent expert 247Sports Crystal Ball Predictions are projecting Greathouse’s commitment to go to Notre Dame. And the latest On3 expert pick for Greathouse projects his commitment to also land with the Fighting Irish.
The On3 recruiting prediction machine is another indicator showing that Greathouse is trending to Notre Dame right now.
What does this mean for Texas?
Well, it could indicate that Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns are starting to run low on numbers in terms of space in the 2023 recruiting class. With Texas already holding a commitment from the touted four-star Aldine Eisenhower (TX) wide receiver Ryan Niblett in the 2023 class, there is already one spot taken at the position for this cycle.
If Texas is in line to land a commitment from another one of their top blue-chip wideout targets in the 2023 class (i.e. Johntay Cook, Jalen Hale, etc.), then Greathouse might be on the outside looking in as far as numbers are concerned.
There is obviously also the possibility that Texas just isn’t prioritizing Greathouse to the degree once thought during spring ball, which allowed Notre Dame to take the lead in this recruitment. That is certainly in the realm of possibility too.
Texas currently holds commitments from five recruits in the 2023 class, with the latest coming from a pair of blue-chip skill position players in four-star RB Tre Wisner and the aforementioned Niblett.
