Spring camp has concluded for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program meaning we are about to hit one of the slower points of the offseason news cycle. Yet, what is usually a slow time of year for the news cycle around the college football landscape has dramatically picked up of late.

The NCAA Transfer Portal has turned this usually slow part of the college football offseason into something that seemingly always delivers on entertainment value and polarization. The transfer portal now seems more like the wild west in some form of a crazier free agency.

The transfer portal colliding with this new world of NIL has created this crazy landscape around college sports where you can’t really ever assume anything. Players can essentially be bought from their current team right now with a lucrative NIL deal elsewhere.

How the post-spring transfer big board could play out for Texas football

It seems like regulation of NIL and the transfer portal will be very necessary. But it might take a while for the conferences and/or NCAA to get the rules in place to help fairly govern NIL and the transfer portal to any effective degree.

That means that for the time being, the transfer portal will continue to be crazy in shaping the college football landscape for the upcoming season.

And that is something that Texas has the resources to take advantage of as likely the last major wave of transfer portal entrants just surfaced on the open market.

With that in mind, here’s a look at the official transfer portal wish list for the Longhorns post-spring (and get ready, there are a lot of potential portal targets for Texas worth looking into).
