A key upperclassman that made his way to Dallas with Dykes and the Mustangs via the transfer portal this offseason is the former blue-chip recruit and junior safety Chris Adimora. Texas saw Adimora go from a borderline regular starter during the 2020 season to someone that started getting buried on the two-deep depth chart last fall.

Adimora went from getting more than 500 defensive snaps during the 2020 season to just over 100 last year. And it didn’t look like there was much room for Adimora to make strides in this defensive backfield moving forward. It makes sense that he tried to find greener pastures with a program where he can start and make an impact right away.

Joshua Moore, WR

Potentially the biggest name among the former Longhorns players on this list that transferred to SMU this offseason is another former blue-chip recruit and redshirt junior wide receiver Joshua Moore. The up and down career of Moore came to a rocky end after a spotty season with Sark and the Longhorns last fall.

Moore definitely has the ability to make an immediate impact on the SMU offense. But he’ll have to find some of that career-best production he put on display during the 2020 season for Texas. Moore registered a career-high 30 catches for 472 receiving yards (15.7 yards per catch) and nine receiving touchdowns in 2020.

It did take Moore a while to find a permanent home out of the portal this offseason with Dykes and the Mustangs. He originally committed to new head coach Joey McGuire and the Texas Tech Red Raiders out of the transfer portal just before the turn of the calendar year. But he would later flip his commitment from Texas Tech to SMU where he would sign a few months ago.
