The process is now underway for head coach Chris Beard and the Texas basketball program to start rebuilding this roster in the early phases of this offseason. Texas has already added one player via the NCAA Transfer Portal so far this offseason in the former New Mexico State Aggies senior shooting guard Jabari Rice.

And it looks like more transfer portal additions will soon be on the way for Beard and the Longhorns staff.

But Texas has also lost multiple players from last season’s team to the transfer portal. Between the likes of the sophomore defensive standout guard Devin Askew (recently committed to the Cal Golden Bears), senior guard Courtney Ramey, and junior big man Tre Mitchell, Texas is down three players to the transfer portal.

How is the projected starting unit shaping up for Texas basketball early this offseason?

There are also multiple Longhorns players that have declared for the NBA Draft and/or are out of eligibility including junior power forward Dylan Disu, redshirt senior shooting guard/wing Andrew Jones, and senior sharpshooting guard Jase Febres.

Texas does still have a chance, though, to get Disu back heading into next season. The same could theoretically be said for Mitchell and Ramey. But those two returning to the Longhorns this offseason look extremely unlikely to say the very least at this moment.

This does leave Beard and the Longhorns staff in a position to still make some necessary tweaks to the rotation to help elevate this team’s success heading into next season.

With that in mind, here’s a look at a way-too-early projection of the Texas starting unit for next season just a couple of months into this offseason.
