A truly underrated portal target worth looking into for the Longhorns is the former four-star recruit and redshirt freshman defensive back Jacobe Covington. Texas has some coaches on this staff familiar with Covington, namely co-defensive coordinator/linebackers coach Pete Kwiatkowski.

Kwiatkowski was the Washington Huskies’ co-defensive coordinator when they were recruiting Covington out of high school. He could be a nice fit to help fill the depth void in the secondary right away this year. The 6-foot-1 and 200-pound defensive back is versatile enough to play at the safety or cornerback position for the Longhorns. That multiplicity would be valuable for this secondary.

Jonah Miller, OT

There’s not much left for the Longhorns in the way of help that Flood and this staff can get out of the portal along the offensive line at this point of the offseason. But one of the potential hidden gems that remains uncommitted in the portal still is the former Oregon Ducks towering 6-foot-8 and 270-pound freshman offensive tackle Jonah Miller.

Texas could use an impact player brought in at the offensive tackle position to help sure up the line in front of either Quinn Ewers or Hudson Card for this fall. Miller could be a favorite to win a starting job at one of the offensive tackle spots right away if he chose to commit to Texas out of the portal later this offseason.
