A former blue-chip recruit in the portal at the moment that already looks to be on the radar of the Longhorns staff is the former Purdue Boilermakers starting redshirt sophomore safety Marvin Grant. Texas is still seeking out help in the secondary post-spring camp, and Grant is one of the most proven and productive safeties in the portal right now.

Grant could come in and challenge the likes of junior Jerrin Thompson, junior Kitan Crawford, sophomore JD Coffey, freshman BJ Allen Jr., etc. for playing time at one of the safety positions right away.

In his first season as a regular starter for Purdue last fall, Grant registered more than 75 combined tackles, three tackles for loss, three pass breakups, and one forced fumble.

Jordan Addison, WR

The most coveted player in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason is the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and the former Pitt Panthers star sophomore wide receiver Jordan Addison. And it looks like Texas is very much involved in the race to land a commitment from Addison out of the portal.

dark. Next. Post-spring portal wish list for Texas

The connection between the former Pitt wide receivers coach and new Texas wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion seems to be drawing interest from Addison to the Longhorns. But it’s still hard to say that new head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans don’t hold the heavy edge in the race to land a commitment from Addison out of the portal.
