3 Texas football players trying to recruit Jordan Addison

Through the first half of the offseason, second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian remained quite busy in the NCAA Transfer Portal recruiting at the wide receiver position for the Texas football program. Sark and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion seem to be taking a rather aggressive approach in the transfer portal to make this wide receiver room more formidable in 2022.

One of the major reasons why Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns are taking such an aggressive approach to upgrade the wide receiver room out of the portal this offseason is the plethora of transfers that left the program in the last few months. In fact, if you go back to last fall, the Longhorns have nearly lost a half-dozen wideouts to the portal.

Some of the more significant wideout losses to the portal for the Longhorns so far this offseason include redshirt junior Joshua Moore, redshirt sophomore Kelvontay Dixon, and junior Marcus Washington.

Texas has already replaced a good bit of the depth lost to the transfer portal already this offseason. Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns already added scholarship wideouts via the portal in the form of the former Wyoming Cowboys breakout redshirt freshman Isaiah Neyor and Alabama Crimson Tide touted freshman Agiye Hall.

And the transfer portal target at the wide receiver position that the Longhorns are looking to add now is the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt Panthers sophomore star Jordan Addison. Texas hosted Addison for a visit this week, which is set to conclude on May 11.

According to a 247Sports report (paid content), there are multiple Longhorns players that are helping Sark and Marion with the pursuit of Addison with some “friendly recruiting”.
