Ayodele Adeoye, LB

Among the more experienced and proven Longhorns players that entered the transfer portal so far this offseason is the former blue-chip recruit and junior linebacker Ayodele Adeoye. As a linebacker with nearly 700 career defensive snaps under his belt, Adeoye is certainly a proven commodity in the portal more so than most other players at his position at this point of the offseason that remain uncommitted.

This is one of the Longhorns players still available in the portal at this moment that I could realistically see returning to the Forty Acres. If that is the case, this would be the second time that Adeoye entered the portal just to return to Texas later that same offseason.

The fact of the matter with Adeoye is that he is more likely to leave than not this time around. I personally believe Adeoye will be seeking a completely fresh start at this point in his career. And landing with an FCS school where he can make a true immediate impact makes a ton of sense for him.

Adeoye had an offer from Southern Illinois out of high school, and that is close to home for him. That’s not to mention the fact that the Southern Illinois defensive coordinator Jason Petrino currently follows Adeoye on Twitter.

Destination: Southern Illinois

Marcus Tillman Jr., LB

Another early offseason transfer portal entrant for the Longhorns is the former three-star recruit and redshirt sophomore linebacker Marcus Tillman Jr. The Orlando, FL, native Tillman didn’t get much playing time during his three years on the Forty Acres.

I like Tillman to land with a Group of Five program such as the Florida Atlantic Owls that had an offer to him out of high school and was an early suiter on the trail a few years back.

Destination: Florida Atlantic

Marques Caldwell, DB

Last week, the former three-star recruit and sophomore defensive back Marques Caldwell took to Twitter to reaffirm that his transfer process is still ongoing and that his recruitment is essentially wide open.

Caldwell could be an interesting addition for whatever team lands him out of the portal this offseason. He could be an immediate impact DB if he finds the right fit out of the portal in the next couple of months.

That is why landing with a coach that he’s familiar with, such as the former Oregon Ducks assistant Marcus Arroyo, makes a ton of sense for Caldwell. Arroyo is now the head coach of the UNLV Rebels.
