Undoubtedly one of the biggest benefactors, if the Longhorns were to land a commitment out of the portal from Addison, would be the rising junior star running back Bijan Robinson. As Texas’ most prominent Heisman contender in 2022, Bijan would have to share the spotlight with Addison. But this is a situation where the two could play well off of each other instead of taking the spotlight away from one another.

It’s hard to imagine that Texas nabbing Addison this offseason would do much to take away from Bijan’s workload. The only thing that might do is take some of the targets Bijan might otherwise get in the passing game away from him as there could be some better options among the top wide receivers in the mix.

Bijan is going to be a workhorse in this offense this fall, pretty much solely barring injury. The ground game is a staple of Sark’s offensive concepts. Bijan is the weapon that Sark and the Longhorns utilize to get the tone of the offense set early on in games. And then the playbook can really open up if Texas can establish itself on the ground early and often.

But if the Longhorns have someone that can truly be a target in the passing game that gets thrown to a dozen or 15 times such as Addison, that means that opposing defenses couldn’t stack the box quite as often compared to what they did last season with Bijan. The field would really open up for Bijan in a world where this offense also has the likes of Worthy, Whittington, Neyor, etc at the skill positions.
