If Beard and the Longhorns do wind up getting the former Vanderbilt Commodores standout power forward and rising senior Dylan Disu back for next season, that would be big for the frontcourt depth.

Disu looked like he was still shaking off a lot of the rust and finding his way back throughout most of last season after recovering from a tragic knee injury he needed surgery for last year.

There were multiple points throughout last season where Disu just didn’t look like himself, at least compared to the power forward we saw shining on both ends of the floor pre-injury for Vandy. And that’s why it’s so important for Disu to have a much-improved 2022-23 campaign for Beard and the Longhorns to prove he’s still the capable big man we saw he was in the SEC a couple of years ago.

A factor that could help Disu continue to move his game forward this coming season could be the addition of a true playmaker and gifted facilitator to this rotation. The addition of Hunter is something that would largely benefit the entire frontcourt unit.

But Disu is one particular big man that could really use the open space that Hunter could create for him on the offensive end of the floor. The ability of Hunter to drive and kick and draw off additional defenders would open up additional time and space for Disu to either hit outside shots off catch-and-shoot opportunities while also opening things up for his midrange game to thrive.

Disu is a threat spotting up from all levels of the offensive halfcourt. And with the amount of open space he could have to work with, his shot could start to become lethal once again with Hunter in the mix.
