Post-spring camp, Texas football fans now have some time to digest what lies ahead for next season as second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian readies his team for the fall. In a critical year for Sark and his staff, Texas must improve their results in Big 12 play this coming season following a very disappointing run during the conference slate last year.

Sark’s first year at the helm as the Longhorns’ head coach was pretty disastrous down the stretch during the Big 12 slate. Texas had their longest losing streak in conference play since around the end of World War II last season and had one of the worst defenses in the modern history of the program.

Texas football has some new potential starters that are ready to breakout in 2022

Couple those two issues with the fact that the Longhorns couldn’t seem to hang onto a double-digit lead to save their life last season, and you get a situation where there’s a ton of work to do for Sark and his staff to right the ship in 2022.

The various issues for Sark and the Longhorns last fall definitely led to a plethora of changes both on the coaching staff and with the roster build. Texas saw another offseason with plenty of roster attrition, which will hopefully be done to improve the success in the win column this fall.

Given the fact that the Longhorns experienced a good amount of roster throughout this offseason thus far, you’d expect to see a plethora of new starters step up in the spotlight in 2022.

With that in mind, here’s a look at four slept-on studs for the Longhorns that are bound to shine during the 2022 season.
