As of the afternoon of May 15, the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt Panthers star sophomore wide receiver Jordan Addison appears to still be mulling over some of his top schools out of the NCAA Transfer Portal such as Texas football and the USC Trojans. Addison just wrapped up his second official visit of the week as he took a trip to see new head coach Lincoln Riley and USC this weekend.

There were some who considered it a real possibility for Riley and the Trojans to haul in a commitment out of the portal from Addison in the midst of his official visit this weekend (myself included). But it now looks like Addison will at least hold out until some point in the next couple of weeks to announce his decision.

Granted, there is no definite timeline that we know of at this moment for Addison’s decision.

A factor that could be playing a role in Addison not having a decision made this week, despite taking what looked to be successful official visits with both Texas and USC, are a couple of other schools he’s considering.

Could Ohio State jump in with Texas football and USC for the Jordan Addison sweepstakes

We definitely know that Addison is considering an official visit with the Alabama Crimson Tide at some point in the next week or so. But there is also some speculation brewing coming out of the weekend that Addison could still be waiting for other appealing suitors to emerge in his recruitment out of the portal.

A piece from Orangebloods on May 15 (paid content) indicated that there is some speculation that is generating this weekend that Addison could be seeing if there’s any communication that comes about with the Ohio State Buckeyes and head coach Ryan Day.

And this sentiment that Ohio State could be a viable landing spot out of the portal for Addison is echoed by others in the college football media landscape. The fact that Addison is likely looking to evaluate the potential destination out of the portal where he can have the most successful 2022 campaign, the Buckeyes could make sense for the Biletnikoff winner.

Moreover, it is worth noting that this just appears to be speculation at the moment connecting Addison to the Buckeyes. Addison still appears to have a top group of schools in mind at the moment that includes Texas, Alabama, and USC.

Addison is clearly the top transfer portal target at this point of the offseason for the Longhorns. Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion appear to be throwing everything they have at the recruitment of Addison out of the portal this spring.
