Lincoln Riley’s tweet pointed to Texas football WR target Jordan Addison?
It’s hard to pin down where the recruitment stands with the Texas football wide receiver transfer target and the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner Jordan Addison. But we do know that there was a successful official visit that the former Pitt Panthers star sophomore wideout Addison took with new head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans over the weekend.
Addison took his second official visit since putting his name in the NCAA Transfer Portal a couple of weeks ago when he took a trip to USC in the last couple of days. He had a multi-day official visit with Riley and the Trojans after having one with second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Longhorns earlier in the week.
But it looked like USC wouldn’t be coming out of the weekend with a commitment in the bag from Addison. We are now roughly 24 hours from the conclusion of Addison’s official visit with Riley and the Trojans, and he still doesn’t have an official commitment announced yet.
That might be changing soon, though, depending on what a recent cryptic tweet from Riley on the night of May 16 could mean.
Lincoln Riley hinting at something on Twitter with Texas football transfer target Jordan Addison?
That aforementioned tweet from Riley late in the night of May 16 just held up the peace sign emoji, signifying the “Fight On” hand-sign famous for the Trojans.
Could this be an indication of an announcement from Addison?

That seems to be what a lot of the polarized reaction from the USC faithful is getting at following this late-night tweet from Riley.
The Addison decision is certainly the elephant in the room for the Trojans following his official visit last weekend. But USC also got a few big commitments on the recruiting trail in the last week or so. This could also be a continuation of that trend if this tweet from Riley has anything to do with USC picking up a commitment early this week.
Granted, this is mostly speculation based on the interestingly-timed tweet from Riley along with the reaction from USC fans.
The sentiment behind this tweet from Riley seems to be that it has to be a big deal if he’s the one posting this. Riley didn’t tend to get involved much in social media posts such as this one when he was the Oklahoma Sooners’ head coach. That might help validate that speculation a bit.
But this is still speculation at this point in time considering we don’t have any concrete reports based on an actual decision from Addison out of the portal.
Addison was still expected to take at least one more official visit before coming to a decision at some point in the next few weeks. The one remaining official visit that it looked like he would take before announcing his decision was with head coach Nick Saban and the Alabama Crimson Tide. Nothing is officially on the books with Addison and the Crimson Tide that we know of pertaining to an official visit as of the night of May 16, though.
