The target for the Texas football program in the NCAA Transfer Portal at this point of the offseason that all the fans want to hear about is the reigning Biletnikoff Award winner and former Pitt Panthers star sophomore wide receiver Jordan Addison. Texas looks to be one of the top schools involved in the race to land a commitment out of the portal from Addison a few weeks after he originally surfaced on the transfer market.

Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian, new wide receivers coach/passing game coordinator Brennan Marion, and the Longhorns hosted Addison for a multi-day official visit in Austin last week. And it looks like Sark, Marion, and the Longhorns did about as much as they could to leave Addison with the right impression from his visit to Austin.

But that wasn’t enough for the Longhorns to secure a commitment from Addison in the midst of his official visit, allowing him to take a trip to see new head coach Lincoln Riley and the USC Trojans last weekend. With USC being the presumed favorite in the Addison sweepstakes at the moment, there looked to be a chance that Riley and his staff could come out of the weekend with a commitment in hand.

That wasn’t something that transpired either, though.

After Addison’s second official visit since entering the transfer portal a few weeks ago wrapped up over the weekend, it looked like there could be one or two more schools that he would want to see before arriving at a decision. But that might not be the case at this point.

The one school that it seemed like would get an official visit from Addison after he visited Texas and USC was the Alabama Crimson Tide. Alabama looked like the third school involved in the Addison sweepstakes this spring, especially given the fact that he had worked out with the reigning Heisman Trophy winner and rising sophomore quarterback Bryce Young in southern California earlier this month.

Transfer target Jordan Addison narrowing down his list to just Texas football and USC?

Yet, the Crimson Tide might not be in line to get a visit from Addison after all. A report from Inside Texas on the morning of May 17 (insider content) indicates that Addison could be narrowing down his list to just include Texas and USC.

We haven’t heard any other reports confirming or denying this matter. But this is still something to take into consideration at this moment as this news would obviously be favorable as it relates to the Longhorns’ chances with Addison.

And considering the fact that Addison didn’t officially have his visit scheduled with Alabama coming out of the weekend definitely adds more credence to this discussion that he could be narrowing his list down to two compared to if he did have his OV scheduled already.

We will continue to monitor this storyline as it continues to develop as this week moves along. It sounds like Addison is likely to announce his decision before the end of May. Thus, things could tighten up fast between Texas and USC in the race to land a commitment from Addison in the next few days.
