4 summer visitors for Texas football that are must-get recruits
Connor Stroh, OT
The 2023 class isn’t as strong for in-state offensive linemen compared to what Texas had for the 2022 recruiting cycle. But that doesn’t mean that offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns won’t prioritize the top blue-chip offensive linemen that are still available in the state of Texas for this cycle.
One of the top offensive linemen in-state for this cycle is the rising four-star Wakeland offensive tackle Connor Stroh. Texas is set to host Stroh for an official visit on June 24. Texas will be the fourth and final official visit Stroh takes next month. The other three are set to come with the Florida Gators (June 3), Arkansas Razorbacks (June 10), and Texas A&M Aggies (June 17).
Texas has started to really set the pace in the recruitment of Stroh. If Flood and the Longhorns continue on this pace heading into the summer with Stroh, they could run away with this recruitment in the next couple of months.
Jaydon Chatman, IOL
Another potential foundational piece in the trenches on the offensive side of the ball for the Longhorns 2023 class could be the touted four-star Harker Heights interior offensive lineman Jaydon Chatman. As another one of the top in-state offensive linemen for this cycle, Chatman is definitely a priority for Flood and the Longhorns staff this offseason.
Chatman is currently slated for two official visits this summer. The first is set to come with Texas A&M on June 10. And then, his June slate of official visits is set to end on June 24 when he trips to Austin to meet with the Texas coaches.
Texas could wind up getting the final word here. And if Chatman has a summer decision timeline set this offseason, Texas looks like the heavy favorite.
Ian Reed, OT
To round out the list of honorable mentions with a clean sweep of offensive line targets for the Longhorns 2023 class is the local product and Vandegrift four-star offensive tackle Ian Reed. Texas has long remained one of the top players in the race to land a commitment from Reed.
And as is the case with Chatman, if Reed is planning on a summer decision this offseason, Texas looks like the heavy favorite here.
Texas is one of four schools on the docket to get an official visit from Reed during a busy month of June for his camp. He’s also slated to officially visit the Clemson Tigers (June 3), Wisconsin Badgers (June 10), and Oklahoma State Cowboys (June 14.
This will be the fourth time that Reed has visited Texas (officially and unofficially) since last offseason. And he will be visiting during a big weekend for Flood and the Longhorns staff, where they could pick up some real momentum on the recruiting trail with this position group.
