Anthony Hill, LB

Potentially the top target on the defensive side of the ball for the Longhorns 2023 class that is slated for an official visit to Texas next month is the elite five-star Denton-Ryan linebacker Anthony Hill. It looks like Texas is in the thick of the top schools for Hill along with the likes of the Oklahoma Sooners, Miami Hurricanes, and Texas A&M, among a couple others.

The next couple of months will be one of the most critical stretches of the recruitment of Hill. Texas needs to make a big move with Hill during his official visit next month.

Texas is slated to get one of the four official visits that Hill has on the books at the moment, which is specifically set to come on June 24. The other officials on the docket for Hill are with Oklahoma (June 3), the Alabama Crimson Tide (June 10), and the USC Trojans (June 17).

It is anticipated that either Texas A&M or Miami will get the final official visit for Hill. This is shaping up to be a recruitment that will likely be taken all the way to the finish line. And this is the sort of pursuit on the recruiting trail that the Texas coaching staff will not give up on until ink is put to paper during one of the signing periods.

Derion Gullette, EDGE

One of my personal favorite emerging blue-chip targets of the Longhorns 2023 class is the talented and potent four-star Marlin (TX) edge rusher Derion Gullette. Texas is currently the only school to have an official visit scheduled with Gullette, which is slated for June 24.

But I would expect Texas A&M and Oklahoma to get on the books for official visits with Gullette before too long. Texas A&M and Oklahoma look like the other top contenders in the race to land a commitment from Gullette entering the summer. And it also looks like Alabama and LSU have an outside shot at the blue-chip standout pass rusher.

This could be the opportunity that Jeff Choate, Pete Kwiatkowski, and the Longhorns need to begin the process of sealing the deal with Gullette on the recruiting trail when he takes his official with Texas next month.
