Texas baseball gets early first pitch in Big 12 Tourney vs. OK State
Texas baseball fans, you better have your cup of coffee ready pretty early in the morning on May 25 if you want to catch this team in action against the Oklahoma State Cowboys in their first game for the Big 12 Tournament this year. Head coach David Pierce and the five-seed Texas are set to take on the four-seed Oklahoma State in the first game for the entirety of the Phillips 66 Big 12 Baseball Championship next week in Arlington, TX.
Pierce and the Longhorns will face Oklahoma State on May 25, with the first pitch time set for 9 a.m. CT. That will be one of three games that will start at 9 a.m. CT as part of the Big 12 Tournament in the next week.
Depending on what happens between the Longhorns and Pokes in their first game of the Big 12 Tournament on May 25, they could play in the second 9 a.m. contest of the festivities in Arlington. The Game 1 loser in the Big 12 Tournament will face the Game 2 loser on May 26 at 9 a.m. CT.

Game 2 will pit the top-seeded/Big 12 regular season title winner TCU Horned Frogs and the eight-seed Baylor Bears on May 25, with the first pitch time set for 12:30 p.m. CT.
Vice versa, if the Longhorns top the Pokes on May 25, then they will face the winner of TCU-Baylor on May 26 at 4 p.m. CT.
Moreover, Texas will need to find its way against Oklahoma State after dropping all three games they had against the Pokes during the regular season. Oklahoma State faced Texas earlier this month at home at UFCU Disch-Falk Field and was swept in a three-game weekend series.
The good news for the Longhorns is the fact that the end of the regular season saw this squad round things out on a high note. Texas finished up the regular season with a convincing three-game series sweep of the Kansas Jayhawks, which capped off with an 11-6 win at home on May 21.
That gives the Longhorns a record of 39-17 (14-10 Big 12) ahead of the Big 12 Tournament.
Meanwhile, Oklahoma State rounded out its regular season schedule with a record of 36-18 (15-9 Big 12) after a 9-5 win over the Baylor Bears on the road on May 21.
For those looking to watch the Texas-Oklahoma State on May 25 to begin the Big 12 Tournament, you can catch it televised on ESPNU or the WatchESPN app.
