The biggest buzz surrounding the Texas football program on the recruiting trail right now is the pursuit of the elite five-star Isidore Newman quarterback Arch Manning. Second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and quarterbacks coach AJ Milwee are putting all they have into the recruitment of Arch as we get closer and closer to a likely decision time from the elite signal-caller.

Sark, Milwee, and the Longhorns recently got Arch on the books for his official visit to Austin this summer. Arch is set for a multi-day official visit with the Longhorns from June 17-19. Texas is set to be the final official visit that Arch takes next month.

Arch is scheduled to also have official visits with the Alabama Crimson Tide (June 10) and Georgia Bulldogs (June 3) this summer. It is presumed that each of those official visits with Alabama and Georgia, respectively, with last for at least a couple of days.

Yet, it could be big for Sark and the Longhorns to have the final official visit that Arch takes this summer. Getting the last word during Arch’s summer visits would likely do nothing but help Texas in the race to land his commitment.

And it also looks as if the trio of Texas, Georgia, and Alabama are each going to plan some major visit weekends simultaneous to Arch being on campus. A report from 247Sports on May 22 (paid content) indicates that Texas is definitely planning on shifting their visit schedule next month to get more key recruits to campus when Manning is present.

The same is likely to be said for Georgia and Alabama.

Texas football could have the biggest weekend of the offseason come during Arch Manning’s official visit

In particular, it seems as if the Longhorns staff will be mostly getting some important 2024 recruits on the books for visits during that same weekend as Arch’s trip. There could be some key 2023 prospects that the Longhorns try to get on campus around the weekend of June 17, but the 2024 recruits will likely be the focus in the midst of the media hype in those few days.

Moreover, the official visit for Arch and the Longhorns is building up to potentially be the most important weekend of any this offseason. If Texas is able to make a big impression on Arch, it could continue to set them apart from the other top schools in his recruitment ahead of the fall.

Generating a positive vibe and an energetic atmosphere on campus during Arch’s visit weekend could also help Texas in a big way with a number of other key recruits. Thus, the atmosphere and the actual visit for Arch to the Forty Acres should have a lasting impact on the recruiting trail for Sark and the Longhorns staff.

A few of the other important recruits visiting Texas that weekend simultaneous to Arch are three-star Isidore Newman tight end Will Randle, four-star Langham Creek wide receiver Jaquaize Pettaway, and four-star Bergen Catholic (NJ) defensive lineman Sydir Mitchell. But none of the visiting recruits for the Longhorns at any point this summer will be more important than Arch.
