Predicting Texas football’s next portal addition after Tarique Milton
Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey, LB
The most realistic addition out of the portal at this point of the offseason, by a good margin, for the Longhorns is the FCS All-American and former James Madison Dukes senior grad transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey. Texas clearly needs help at the linebacker position, and Tucker-Dorsey is currently the best option available on the transfer market.
Kwiatkowski, Choate, and the Longhorns are currently hosting Tucker-Dorsey on an official visit that started on May 23. Tucker-Dorsey announced on his Twitter timeline late in the morning of May 23 that he was set to take a multi-day official visit with the Longhorns that could last through May 25.
This is the second official visit that Tucker-Dorsey has taken since he emerged in the transfer portal last week. The other official visit he’s taken came with head coach Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights last weekend. He could also realistically schedule visits with other schools that have offered him such as the Ole Miss Rebels, Texas A&M Aggies, and Auburn.
If Texas were to land a commitment from Tucker-Dorsey out of the portal this spring, he would likely be able to compete right away for starting reps at middle linebacker with rising senior Jaylan Ford. He wouldn’t be a sure thing to start right away for the Longhorns this fall, but he would certainly add some very valuable depth at a position of need.
