Transfer LB Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey visiting Texas football today
The latest visitor news among the targets for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff for the Texas football program in the NCAA Transfer Portal came about this week. Texas is set to host the former FCS All-American and James Madison Dukes senior grad transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey for an official visit in Austin this week.
Tucker-Dorsey posted on his Twitter timeline on the morning of May 23 that he is “locked in” for an official visit with the Longhorns for a few days this week. But there are some conflicting reports coming out this week also saying that Tucker-Dorsey could only be visiting for just one day.
Inside Texas was one that reported that Tucker-Dorsey might just be on campus for one day instead of the May 23-25 timeline that he posted on Twitter on the morning of May 23.

It will be interesting to see how things play out with Tucker-Dorsey in the midst of his visit with co-defensive coordinators/linebackers coaches Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Choate early this week. Tucker-Dorsey is anticipated to make a decision by the end of this week. A lengthy official visit to Texas could mean good things for the Longhorns’ chances in the race to land a commitment from Tucker-Dorsey out of the portal heading into the summer.
Tucker-Dorsey also took an official visit with head coach Gus Malzahn and the UCF Knights in the last week. There’s also a chance that he could visit other schools that have offered him out of the portal such as the Texas A&M Aggies, Ole Miss Rebels, and/or the Auburn Tigers.
Yet, the spotlight is on the Longhorns right now with Tucker-Dorsey. If the coaches can make a big move with Tucker-Dorsey this week, Texas would be in a great position in regard to this portal recruitment.
Texas has five additions by way of the transfer portal so far this offseason, highlighted by the former Ohio State Buckeyes quarterback Quinn Ewers and Wyoming Cowboys wide receiver Isaiah Neyor. If Texas is able to land Tucker-Dorsey, he would be the second portal defensive commit and the first at the linebacker position. The other defensive portal player the Longhorns added this offseason is the former Ohio State cornerback Ryan Watts.
