Predicting Texas football’s next transfer after Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey
An important addition for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program arrived out of the NCAA Transfer Portal ahead of the holiday weekend. Texas landed a key commitment out of the transfer portal on the afternoon of May 27 from the FCS All-American and James Madison Dukes senior grad transfer linebacker Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey.
Sark and the Longhorns staff got their second addition by way of the transfer portal on May 27 among defensive players. The other defensive portal player that the Longhorns landed so far this offseason is the former Ohio State Buckeyes redshirt freshman cornerback Ryan Watts.
This is big for the Longhorns to get help in the way of a proven player at a position of need. Linebacker was definitely one of the most significant positions of need both in terms of depth and proven production at the conclusion of spring ball.
Who could be next for Texas football in the portal this summer after landing Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey?
It feels like this portal addition for the Longhorns could be one of the last that we see for the remainder of the offseason. Part of that is due to the lack of proven players in the portal entering the summer. The other reason for that is the immediate eligibility deadline that hit on May 1. That essentially means only graduate transfers or those that get waivers from the NCAA during the summer will be able to have immediate eligibility at their next landing spot.
With that in mind, here’s a look at a prediction of who the next transfer portal addition could be for the Longhorns entering the summer after landing Tucker-Dorsey.
