Predicting Texas football’s next transfer after Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey
Darrell Simpson, OT
A sizable option for the Longhorns to add depth along the offensive line, who is also a bit more of an experienced transfer, is the former Oklahoma Sooners blue-chip recruit and redshirt junior offensive tackle Darrell Simpson. The 6-foot-7 and 355-pound Simpson would clearly add some punch at a thin spot along the offensive line for the Longhorns.
After struggling to get significant live-game reps along the offensive line in the last few years under former Oklahoma head coach Lincoln Riley, Simpson entered the portal this offseason. Simpson only took roughly a dozen offensive snaps for the Sooners last season.
This could be a nice value addition that comes along with two years of eligibility remaining for offensive line coach/offensive coordinator Kyle Flood and the Longhorns entering the summer.
Joseph Boletepeli, DE/EDGE
Handy and the former NC State Wolfpack and Maryland Terrapins redshirt junior defensive end Joseph Boletepeli are two of the best pass rushers remaining in the transfer portal at this point of the offseason. But adding Boletepeli would likely come with less risk for the Longhorns than nabbing Handy out of the portal.
Boletepeli is a recent transfer portal entrant that could add some incredibly important depth at a lacking position at edge rusher ahead of next season.
During his time playing for NC State and Maryland in the last few seasons, Boletepeli registered four career tackles for loss, two sacks, and 17 quarterback pressures, in less than 180 snaps rushing the passer. He’s pretty disruptive when healthy. Texas could use that type of presence along the defensive front heading into next season.
