Predicting Texas football’s next transfer after Diamonte Tucker-Dorsey
Dreshun Miller, CB
We’ve talked about the potential of the Longhorns adding the former under-the-radar three-star recruit and senior cornerback Dreshun Miller out of the portal to shore up the secondary for next season. Miller has ample Big 12 experience from his time as a starting cornerback under head coach Neal Brown with the West Virginia Mountaineers.
Miller showed what he can do in pass coverage during the shortened 2020 COVID-19 season. In that campaign, he registered more than 30 combined tackles, one interception, and a whopping nine pass breakups. He finished in the top five in the Big 12 in pass breakups in 2020.
Adding Miller out of the portal would give the Longhorns a cornerback that could be a reliable option in Big 12 play compared to some of the other younger players at the position on the current orster.
Justin Gardner, CB
If Pete Kwiatkowski and Terry Joseph are still seeking out help to bolster their ability to defend the pass in the Big 12 for this coming season, the good news is that there are still a few very underrated and proven players in the portal to get this done. One player that is definitely worth a look in the portal from the Longhorns is the former Kansas State Wildcats and Oregon State Beavers senior cornerback Justin Gardner.
The lengthy and proven 6-foot-2 and 180-pound Gardner has a dozen pass breakups and two interceptions (one of which was returned for a touchdown) during his three seasons playing for Oregon State and Kansas State. He has plenty of proven production in pass coverage in Big 12 play, which would come in handy for the Texas secondary right away.
