The most obvious inclusion on this list among the skill position weapons for the Longhorns bound to have a big run this fall is the star junior running back Bijan Robinson. As Texas’ most obvious Heisman contender and a potential top-15 pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, the insane skill set that Bijan brings to the table for this offense for this coming season is abundantly apparent.

Bijan was one of the best and most productive running backs in the entire country in the first half of last season. Through September and October, Bijan had more than 1,200 total yards from scrimmage and 14 total touchdowns.

But he quickly slowed down in November due to two major reasons. First and foremost, opposing defenses started to figure out that Bijan was often the sole spark to the Longhorns’ offense. They could just stack the box with eight players and force Texas to pass the ball.

Secondly, Bijan suffered a season-ending injury in the bad loss to the Kansas Jayhawks in mid-November. That ultimately cut short what looked to be a Heisman-contending season for Bijan.

If he’s able to stay healthy throughout this coming season, Bijan is definitely going to be able to cross the threshold of 1,600 total yards and probably reach 20+ total touchdowns.

There are some encouraging signs that should add to the optimism surrounding the potential numbers that Bijan could put up this fall. The fact that Texas’ offensive line play dramatically improved in run blocking down the stretch last season should really help him this fall.

Also, Texas just has more skill position weapons in the mix this season that will keep opposing defenses honest, which will open up the field much more often for Bijan to do damage. Watch out for him to live up to the billing of putting together a full season of work that is worthy of finishing in the top 10 of the Heisman voting.
