Another big man that could fill the void that Beard and the Longhorns are looking for is the towering 7-foot and 250-pound former Georgetown Hoyas Nigerian center Timothy Ighoefe. After spending three seasons under head coach Patrick Ewing with the Hoyas, Ighoefe entered the portal likely seeking out a bigger role elsewhere.

And a bigger role with more potential NIL opportunities is exactly what Beard and the Longhorns can offer Ighoefe ahead of next season. This type of length and developing rim protection fits what Texas needs. Adding a player such as Ighoefe could be the piece the Longhorns need to take this team to the next level in the next couple of seasons.

You can see the type of progression that Ighoefe was able to make under a Hall-of-Fame NBA big man in Ewing in his last few years with the Hoyas. Ighoefe really developed in the areas of rebounding and rim protection last season to the point where he averaged a career-best one block per game and six rebounds.

And the efficiency that Ighoefe brought to the table while averaging just shy of 16 minutes per game last season was insane. He averaged an insane 15 rebounds per 40 minutes, six offensive rebounds, and 2.7 blocks. That is the type of pace he remained on while getting even more limited playing time in previous seasons at Georgetown.

Texas could likely bump Ighoefe’s playing time up to around 18-20 minutes per game. But the real value he would bring to the table for Beard and the Longhorns staff is the matchup advantage he could present when this team is facing some seven-footers on contending opponents.
