Analyzing 4 of the most underrated Texas football summer enrollees
Savion Red, WR/ATH
The lowest-rated skill position commit in the Longhorns 2022 class is the former SMU Mustangs pledge and three-star Grand Prairie athlete/wide receiver Savion Red. Texas went after Red with a spot in the 2022 class after missing out on the elite five-star Liberty wideout Evan Stewart to the rival Texas A&M Aggies.
But there’s still a lot of value that the Longhorns can get out of signing Red. This Dallas-Fort Worth Metroplex product is going to be one of the grittiest and most versatile skill position players among the incoming freshmen. Red is good in space, incredibly difficult to bring down, and is always willing to fight for the extra yards.
He is the definition of a fierce competitor and will bring the type of attitude on and off the field that will be very welcome in this locker room for Sark and the Longhorns staff.
Ethan Burke, EDGE
One of the late additions to the Longhorns 2022 class that helped add a punch to this group by adding an edge rusher with a high ceiling is the four-star Austin-Westlake product Ethan Burke. This local product stands at a towering 6-foot-7 and 230-pounds.
Burke will definitely need to add some size to his frame during summer workouts. Getting him acclimated to the Pete Kwiatkowski defensive concepts will also be an important focal point of the summer schedule of the offseason for Burke.
When watching him on film, Burke flashes his excellent skill in tight spaces and a great amount of bend. He’s got good hands and solid fundamental footwork that should allow him to fit the bill as a high-caliber NFL prospect if he can come even close to fulfilling his potential in the next few years.
