The conclusion of spring ball arrived a little more than one month ago for second-year head coach Steve Sarkisian and the Texas football program. But that didn’t slow down the roster turnover that occurred in the last month or so for Texas as the activity in the NCAA Transfer Portal continued to remain abundant throughout late April and May.

Sark and the Longhorns did lose more players to the transfer portal than they’ve picked up in the last five weeks. But that was to be expected ahead of the arrival of the summer enrollees in June and given some of the roster needs that existed on each side of the ball.

In the week following the conclusion of spring ball alone, the Longhorns lost more than a half-dozen players to the transfer portal. And in the time since the conclusion of spring camp (which specifically concurred back on April 23 following the altered version of the annual Orange-White Game), Texas has picked up a couple of portal commitments.

Which new additions for Texas football during the spring will shine this coming season?

But Texas is also getting more than a dozen signees to campus during the summer semester as part of the 2022 recruiting class. This incoming freshman class, along with the more than half-dozen portal pickups this offseason, are supposed to be the positive part of the roster turnover ahead of next season.

It’s worth noting, though, which particular new additions for the Longhorns this spring are going to be able to make an impact right away this fall. With that in mind, here’s a look at three spring additions for the Longhorns ready to shine during the 2022 season.
